To date, Gerald and I have done three Road Trips Across Canada together.
1) Out West from Toronto, Ontario to Tofino, British Columbia (July 1st, 2011 – July 23rd, 2011)
2) Out West & Up North from Toronto, Ontario to Tuktoyuktak, North West Territories (July 21st, 2013 to August 13th, 2013)
3) Out East from Toronto, Ontario to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia (September 26, 2014 to September 10th, 2014).
We are working on creating maps that illustrate where we’ve been and the things we’ve seen and done, linking to blog posts that show the stories and photographs from each adventure..
For example, the map below shows our Second Road Trip Across Canada on July 21st, 2013 – August 13, 2013. In those 23 days, we drove around 19,000 km.
On this trip, we began in Toronto, Ontario, and first headed west towards Vancouver, British Columbia, as I was photographing a wedding there in late July. After the wedding, we drove all the way north to Inuvik, Northwest Territories. When we arrived in Inuvik, we took a small 6 seat plane to the Tuktoyuktak, North West Territories to dip our toes in the Arctic Ocean!
We didn’t make it to Yellowknife (we’ll have to save that for our next road trip Across Canada) but it was an amazing 23 days on the road. We saw grizzly bears, black bears, moose, caribou, wild horses, prairie dogs, beaver, mountain goat, mountain sheep, deer, elk, prong-horn sheep, bison, wolves, foxes, hawks and manage to hike with wolves, drive the Dempster Highway, white-water raft in the Athabasca River, put up a sign in the Sign Post forest, sleep among 120 dog sledding huskies, and more. ❤
We are also working on creating little short videos that highlight our adventures. For example, Gerald created a little 3:26 minute video highlighting our 23 days and 19,000 km across Canada.
